(a one-act play)
Rallentando follows two middle-aged artists, Terry, a playwright whose work has fallen out of fashion, and Nadia, an actress weathered by the compromises of her profession. Over dinner, they trade stories of ambition, loss, aging, and survival: parents who faded away, lovers who vanished, careers that never quite arrived.
What begins as complaint becomes confession, and confession becomes a kind of fragile reconciliation with time itself. The play’s title, a musical term meaning to gradually slow down, mirrors its rhythm: as conversation deepens, tempo gives way to stillness.
Both tender and unsparing, Rallentando is a meditation on endurance, how two lives, stripped of illusion, can find beauty in the act of slowing down.
